Swami Brahmananda was Sri Ramakrishna`s spiritual son and the first President of the Ramakrishna Order. This is a compilation of the personal accounts of numerous people who intimately knew Maharaj (as the Swami was reverentially called), and had many occasions to closely observe his daily life and day-to-day dealings. The charm of his unassuming personality and the silent influence of his deep spirituality left a lasting influence on all those who came in touch with him.
My name should not be made prominent. It is my ideas that I want to see realized. The disciples of all the prophets have always inextricably mixed up the ideas of the Master with person, and at last killed the ideas for the person.The disciples of Sri Ramakrishna must guard against doing the same thing. Work for the idea, not the person.
